Jamaat-e-Islami Hind's Ameer (President) Syed Saadatullah Hussaini has expressed concern over the current situation in Bangladesh and has appealed to the authorities responsible for dealing with this emergency situation to restore peace and stability in the country and take immediate and decisive action. He expressed concern over media reports that miscreants are taking advantage of this unrest to damage property and persecute innocent citizens, especially those from minority communities. We strongly condemn these violent acts and demand immediate measures to ensure the safety of minorities and other vulnerable groups.
He said that it is heartening to know that a large number of citizens and members of civil society are coming forward to ensure the safety of religious places and properties of minority communities and are preventing violent mobs from doing so. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind urges the highest authorities of Bangladesh to take immediate and decisive action to restore peace and stability in the country and immediately form an interim government that has the confidence of the people. All those who have suffered during this period must get justice and those responsible must be punished. The interim government must initiate the democratic process without further delay to ensure that free and fair elections can be held, and a truly representative and democratically elected government is established that reflects the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people.
