Jallianwala Bagh incident planted the seed of demand for complete Swaraj in the mind of Mahatma Gandhi: Suryakant Dhasmana

Dehradun, 13 April (HS). The Jallianwala Bagh incident transformed the reformist Gandhi into a revolutionary Gandhi and the result was that the seed of demand for complete Swaraj was planted in the mind of Mahatma Gandhi.

While addressing the tribute meeting organized to pay homage to the martyrs in Kanwali on the 105th anniversary of Jallianwala Bagh massacre on Saturday evening, chief guest Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Senior Vice President Suryakant Dhasmana said these things.

He said that before the Jallianwala Bagh incident, Mahatma Gandhi and Congress used to advocate and fight for Indians to get concessions and civil rights from the British. On Mahatma Gandhi's call for a nationwide movement against the Royalty Act, Mahatma Gandhi was shaken to the core by the gruesome massacre of unarmed people in Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar and this feeling was born within him.

He said that those hundreds of thousands of people, most of whose names are not known to us and today's generations, it is the result of their sacrifices that we are breathing in a free country today, hence it is the duty of all of us to fight for the freedom and democracy of the country. Everyone should resolve to keep it intact.

The program was presided over by former ONGC officer Rajendra Singh Raj and moderated by Awadhesh Kathiriya. On this occasion, a large number of people garlanded the portrait of martyr Nathuram Dhobi.
