Jalebi Baba's death: Amarpuri alias Jalebi Baba alias Billu of Tohana, who was serving sentence in Hisar's Central Jail-2 in several rape cases, died on Tuesday night, the cause of death is believed to be heart attack. Amarpuri was originally from Mansa, Punjab. Years ago he used to sell Jalebi in Tohana. Later he became Baba and built an ashram.
In 2017, he came into limelight across the country when more than 100 women accused him of raping them by giving them intoxicants in tea and rendering them unconscious during treatment and lectures. Later, when the matter was investigated, a huge amount of destructive material was found from the ashram.

After which the allegations against Amarpuri were heard in the court for five years. Fatehabad district court sentenced him to 14 years on 10 January 2023. It is being told that Jalebi Baba was ill in jail for many days. He was undergoing treatment in jail.
According to the jail system, Amarpuri alias Jalebi Baba suffered from chest pain on Tuesday afternoon. Before jail, he was first referred to Hisarna District Civil Hospital and then to Agroha Medical College. By evening his health improved and he was brought back to jail. At night Amarpuri felt chest pain in his barrack. He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

In October 2017, there was an uproar after a disturbing video of women's devotion at Jalebi Baba's ashram in Tohana surfaced. On January 10 last year, a Fatehabad court had sentenced Jalebi Baba to 14 years of imprisonment for raping a minor.
He was sentenced to seven years each for raping several other women and five years under the IT Act. All these sentences were running simultaneously on the orders of the court. Since then Jalebi Baba was lodged in Central Jail-2 of Hisar. Azad Nagar police got the post-mortem done by the board of doctors in the presence of the magistrate. Videography was also done during this period.
