Jhansi, 30 September (Hindus). Uttar Pradesh's Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Swatantra Dev Singh conducted a surprise inspection of Pahunj Dam located in the district and obtained information about water storage.
During the inspection, Executive Engineer Betwa Canal Block Umesh Kumar told that the capacity of this dam built in the year 1911 is 25 million cubic meters. The total length of the Pahunj canal system originating from this dam is 42 km, through which Rabi crops are irrigated in 3200 hectare area and 5 MCM water is made available to Jhansi city for drinking water. To meet the water shortage in Pahunj Dam, Dongri Dam is constructed 15 km up, which has a total capacity of 13 MCM. Irrigation and drinking water fisheries are also done from these dams. Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh inspected the dam on the spot and took information about water storage.
He gave clear instructions that adequate water should be provided to the farmers in Rabi crop. In Mann Ki Baat addressed by the Prime Minister at the Circuit House, the Minister appreciated the work being done by Jal Saheli (Jal Saheli) who are working on the excellent work of water conservation in village Simravari of development block Babina and suggested other people to take inspiration from them. On this occasion, the Minister honored 13 water friends of Parmarth Samaj Seva Sansthan by blowing shawls and while speaking, suggested to work with the same promptness and dedication in future also. During the field visit, the Minister inspected the village Sultanpura under the Gulara Drinking Water Scheme and directed to ensure that all the schemes are completed within the stipulated time and made public utility. There should not be any delay in the works of the said schemes and also the works should be properly implemented. It should be done with proper quality. Projects and works related to drinking water should not be kept pending at any level. Water connection should be installed inside the house.
Apart from this, he said that water connections should also be installed in public buildings, Panchayat buildings, schools, Anganwadi centers and other buildings in the village. Executive Engineer Jal Nigam Ranvijay Singh said that 10 village group drinking water schemes are under construction in Jhansi district. All the projects under construction are almost at their completion. On this occasion, District Panchayat President Pawan Gautam, MLA Sadar Ravi Sharma, MLC Rama Niranjan, District Magistrate Avinash Kumar and other departmental officers were present.
