Hamirpur, July 13 (HS). The Amrit drinking water schemes being built with a fund of five billion in Hamirpur have suffered a major setback due to the negligence of the department. The department has not yet been able to arrange land for building water treatment plants for drinking water schemes. Even after getting the green signal from the government, this Amrit drinking water scheme could not be implemented on the ground.
In view of the water crisis in Hamirpur, the central and state governments have started Amrit-2 projects for urban areas. A place has been found only at Patara Danda, away from the Betwa river, to build the water treatment plant of the project. While for the sewat treatment plant of Hamirpur city, a place has been finalized near the MRF Center near the Forest Department. According to the Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam, WTP will be constructed at one place for Hamirpur and Kurara Nagar, while preparations have been made to establish a water treatment plant at one place for Maudha, Sumerpur, Gohand and Sarila. The government had given the responsibility of getting all the work of Amrit-2 project done to Jal Nigam, but even after a year, Jal Nigam has only prepared the DPR and sent it to the government. According to the department, the government has made a provision of five billion rupees to bring these projects on the ground. But the work of the projects is not being expedited.
Jal Nigam had sent Amrit drinking water schemes to the government for the city
Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam Hamirpur AK Sharma said that DPR (action plan) for Amrit-2 drinking water projects has been prepared and sent to the government. Places have been seen at two places to set up water treatment plants for drinking water projects worth five billion rupees, but the place is not yet finalized at the Nagar Palika and Nagar Panchayat level. He said that the work of the project will be started as soon as the place is finalized.
Jal Nigam sought permission to lift water from Yamuna and Betwa rivers
The department has made a plan to lift water from Yamuna and Betwa rivers by setting up water treatment plants for Amrit-2 drinking water projects costing five billion rupees. The thirst of the people of urban areas will be quenched with the water of both the rivers. Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam AK Sharma said that water will be taken from Yamuna and Betwa rivers for drinking water projects. He told that for this, permission has been sought from the government to take water from both the rivers.
