New Delhi, 16 November (HS). Young YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul scored a unanimous decision victory over 58-year-old former heavyweight champion legendary boxer Mike Tyson on Friday night.
According to the judges, the fight was not close, with one giving Paul an 80–72 lead, while the other two scored it 79–73.
Tyson came after Paul immediately after the opening bell and landed some fast punches, but did not try to do anything else for the rest of the time. This was Tyson’s first sanctioned professional bout in nearly 20 years, where he faced an amateur boxer.
Paul became more aggressive after Tyson landed a flurry of blows in the opening seconds, but the punches were not very effective. Many times he attacked wildly and missed, but still he won in the end.
It was the first sanctioned fight for Tyson since 2005, while Paul began fighting a little more than four years earlier.
The bout was originally scheduled to take place on July 20, but was postponed when Tyson was treated for a stomach ulcer after falling ill during the flight.
