Jaipur, July 13 (HS). Rs 6,000 crore will be spent on the development of infrastructure at Jaipur Airport. This investment will be made in a phased manner. Terminal 3 building will be built at Jaipur Airport. This amount will be used for airport security, passenger facilities and other uses under a detailed master planning. Apart from Terminal 3 building at the airport, new infrastructure is to be developed at the existing Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
Airport spokesperson Abhishek Gaur said that the annual passenger load at Jaipur Airport is expected to reach 9.8 million by 2027. The new terminal building will prove to be helpful in handling the increasing passenger load effectively. An integrated cargo terminal, new taxiways, aprons and a rapid exit taxiway (RET) are also proposed to be built at the airport. Initiatives like DigiYatra, passenger Wi-Fi and other IoT-based passenger facilities will enhance the passenger experience and make seamless travel possible. Use of electric vehicles, change from high global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants to low GWP refrigerators, and development of a mini forest in Bichoon will be done to maintain environmental balance.
He informed that the renovation work of Terminal 2 at Jaipur Airport is also being done at a fast pace. Under this, additional boarding gates, entrances, additional seating areas, deployment of baggage handling system (BHS) for faster processing of bags and dedicated pickup and drop-off zones will be constructed for better passenger experience. Cargo operations at the airport drive economic development. Construction of an integrated cargo complex with an annual capacity of 22,500 metric tonnes is also proposed, which will increase development opportunities.
According to Gaur, the construction of a 5,000 KL capacity fuel farm under the development works will reduce the turnaround time of the aircraft, thereby bringing efficiency in the operations of the airport. The construction of new taxiways and aprons as well as Rapid Exit Taxiways (RET) will further increase efficiency which will enable the aircraft to vacate the runway in the shortest time and distance. The operation of the airport was handed over to Jaipur International Airport Limited by the Airports Authority of India in October 2021 for a tenure of 50 years. This includes transfer of existing assets and ongoing capital works. Jaipur International Airport Limited is mandated to follow best-in-class safety standards and services for passenger convenience. On this basis, a master plan was prepared and some capital works required for passenger convenience and safety were identified.
