The box office figures coming out from the Indian cinematic corridors these days are quite shocking. The box office journey of superstar Rajinikanth’s much talked about and high-octane action film ‘Jailer 2’ has seen a big and unexpected break on the 14th day of its release. There has been a sudden huge decline in the earnings of this film which ran like a storm in theaters for the first two weeks. Not only ‘Jailer 2’, but the pace of Ajay Devgan’s suspense-thriller film ‘Drishyam 3’, which has already established its hold at the box office, has now slowed down to a great extent and its figures have started falling into lakhs. On the other hand, the box office struggles and lackluster performance of middling and other new films like ‘Udta Teer’ have proved that it is no longer easy for films to survive during working days.
Heavy decline in the earnings of ‘Jailor 2’ on the 14th day, still it remains a big hit
South megastar Rajinikanth’s film ‘Jailor 2’ has broken many big box office records since its release and has become one of the highest-grossing films of Kollywood. However, as two weeks were completed on Wednesday, the film’s earnings got a big blow. According to trade analysts, on the 14th day, ‘Jailor 2’ has done a net business of around Rs 6.55 crore across all versions across the country, which shows a huge decline of around 21 percent as compared to the previous day. With this, the total net collection of the film in India has now crossed the figure of Rs 423 crore. Made on a huge budget, this film has made a gross collection of more than Rs 755 crore at the worldwide box office and is now slowly moving towards the Rs 900 crore club.
Ajay Devgan’s ‘Drishyam 3’ faltered, business reached lakhs for the first time
Ajay Devgan and Tabu starrer much-awaited franchise film ‘Drishyam 3: The Conclusion’ was making waves at the box office for the last one month. But after 27 days of release, the grip of this film seems to be weakening considerably in theatres. According to the data released on Wednesday, the daily business of ‘Drishyam 3’ has slipped from the crores mark to lakhs of rupees for the first time. However, in its total journey so far, the film has achieved a spectacular global gross collection of around Rs 577 crores, making huge profits in the country and across the world and has been registered among the biggest successful films of the year.
‘Udta Teer’ and other films continue to struggle at the box office
On the other hand, the film ‘Udta Teer’, which was recently released in theatres, seems to be struggling to strengthen its hold at the box office. After a sluggish start, the film has done very average business on the sixth day i.e. Wednesday. It is becoming challenging for these films to survive due to lackluster response from audiences and declining occupancy in theaters on weekdays. Overall, this week is indicating a big change in terms of box office, where the old big films are now in their final stages and the new films are not getting the magical response from the audience which was expected.
