Under the guidance of Fatehabad District Legal Services Authority Chairman and District and Sessions Judge DR Chalia, Jail Lok Adalat was organized in Central Jail 2, Hisar on Wednesday. During this period, three cases were pending in different courts, out of which two cases were disposed of. In these 2 cases, 2 prisoners were freed from punishment.
While presiding over the Jail Lok Adalat, District Legal Services Authority Secretary and Chief Judicial Magistrate Gayatri said that Jail Lok Adalat is organized every month in which the cases are settled on the spot in the district jail. CJM Gayatri also conducted a surprise inspection of the district jail. Apart from this, the jail premises were also inspected and found clean and tidy. He inquired with the jail administration about the undertrial women prisoners.
He inquired about the facilities being provided to undertrial women prisoners, regarding which no verbal complaint was given. The prisoners were made aware of their rights that if they do not have a lawyer to defend their case, they can get a free lawyer from the District Legal Services Authority so that he can plead their case in the court. CJM Gayatri said that all types of legal assistance and information can be availed by phone on the helpline number 01667-231174 and toll free number 1800-180-2057 of the District Legal Services Authority on any working day from 9.30 am to 5 pm. .
