The 14th batch of pilgrims left today
A group of over 4,800 pilgrims left Jammu city in the wee hours of Thursday amid tight security in Kashmir.The 14th batch of 4,885 pilgrims left Baltal and Pahalgam base camps at 3.06 am under the protection of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), officials said. Security has been beefed up around the Bhagwati Nagar base camp and the yatra route following the terror attack and the subsequent operation.
4800 pilgrims left for Amarnath cave
Officials said the 14th batch comprises 2,366 men, 1,086 women, 32 children and 163 'sadhus' and 'nuns'. They said 2,991 pilgrims have chosen the 48-km-long traditional Pahalgam route for the yatra while 1,894 pilgrims will take the shorter (14 km) but tougher Baltal route to the cave shrine. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of Amarnath pilgrims on June 28.
