Mumbai: Bollywood actors' general knowledge is usually considered ridiculous. But, recently, when Jahnavi Kapoor spoke in depth about the caste system and the ideology of Gandhi-Ambedkar in a TV interview, netizens were surprised. People admitted that they really did not expect Jahnavi Kapoor to be able to have such an intellectual discussion.
Jahwani said in an interview that history is his favourite subject. When asked which era he is interested in, he said that he thinks about Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar. It would have been nice to see them debating casteism.
Jahvi further elaborated and said that Dr. Ambedkar was very firm about his views from the beginning while Mahatma Gandhi changed his stance as soon as he gained experience about casteism. Jahvi said that racism is such a problem that there is a world of difference between actually experiencing it and getting information about it from a third person.
However, Jahvi denied any discussions about racism during school hours. She also said that no one's caste was ever mentioned in her home either.
Netizens were surprised by Jahnavi's answer. Many netizens said that it is really surprising for a mainstream Bollywood actress to have so much knowledge of political history and complex issues like casteism. Jahnavi has indeed proved to be a more sensible heroine than expected.
It is worth noting that Alia Bhatt's general knowledge has been mocked more than once before. On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut, who is currently contesting the Lok Sabha elections, has also been repeatedly criticized for her knowledge of history.
