It is one of the largest religious conferences in Asia and devotees from all over the world come and participate in this religious journey. In this journey, Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra and his sister Subhadra are seated.

When is Jagannath Rath Yatra in 2025?
Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra will begin on 26 June in Puri, Odisha and will continue till 27 June. Every year many people from India and the world participate in this festival.
- Akshaya Tritiya and Rath Construction: The construction of chariots begins on Akshaya Tritiya about two months before the Rath Yatra.
- Bath Purnima (formal bath): The gods are bathed with 108 pitches of water, after which they are believed to get sick and go into solitude.
- Anavasar (secluded period): The deity stays away from the public scene for about 15 days.
- Netrootsav (Re -attainment of the gods): On the eve of the chariot journey, special rituals are performed to commemorate the re -attainment and rearness of the gods.
- Chhera Pantra (royal ritual): The king of Puri cleans the chariot platform with a gold broom to show humility to God.
- Grand Procession: The gods are placed in their chariots and transported from the roads to the Gundicha temple.
- Gundicha Temple Migration: The deities live in the Gundicha temple for nine days for worship.
- Bahu Yatra (return journey): The deities return to the Jagannath temple with the same grandeur and rituals.
- Suna Basha (Golden makeup): The gods wear gold jewelery in a spectacular performance.
- Neeladri Bije (return to the temple): The deities eventually return to their sanctum sanctorum inside the Jagannath temple, which makes the festival complete.

- The three chariots are reconstructed every year using specific holy wood from the specified forests.
- People pull the chariots completely with hands without a machine.

Nandighosh (Lord Jagannath) – 16 wheels
Taldhwaj (Balabhadra) – 14 wheels
Darpadalan (Subhadra) – 12 wheels
