Gandhinagar, 14 November (HS). The Science and Technology Department of the state government on Thursday signed an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global leader Jabil. According to this MoU, Jabil will invest Rs 1,000 crore in Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). With this new unit, Jabil will also focus on networking, capital goods, automotive and other areas in collaboration with the Gujarat government. Under this MOU, Jabil will expand its scope of work and provide estimated more than 5,000 employment opportunities by the year 2027.
According to the government release, the MoU was signed by BN Shukla, Operations Director, Jabil, and Manish Gurwani, Mission Director, Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM). Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, and Frederick McCoy, Executive President (Global), Jabil, exchanged the MoU. This MoU will strengthen the technology ecosystem of the state by creating high-skilled employment opportunities and producing world-class products. Dholera SIR has been developed by the Government with industry-ready plug-and-play infrastructure and efficient logistics framework to support hi-tech manufacturing. On the occasion of signing of this MoU, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Pankaj Joshi, Principal Secretary of Science and Technology Department Mona Khandhar, senior officials and representatives of Jabil were also present.
