ITR Filing : The last date for filing income tax returns without penalty for the financial year 2023-24 and assessment year 2024-25 is July 31, 2024. After this, if you file income tax return, then you will have to pay a penalty. People with an annual income of Rs 5 lakh will have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000. While a fine of Rs 5,000 will have to be paid on income of more than Rs 5 lakh. Also keep in mind that after filing the income tax return, it is necessary to complete its e-verification.
ITR filing will not be considered complete without e-verification. It is necessary to complete the e-verification process within 31 days of filing the return. Otherwise the claim will be rejected. Note that you can complete e-verification through Aadhaar OTP, net banking or sign ITR-V.
Income tax refund can be claimed even after the last date
Let us tell you that you can claim income tax refund even after the deadline for filing ITR. For this you have time till 31 December. Note that for this you will have to pay penalty fee and late fee. In such a situation, you will get the remaining refund amount after deducting the amount of late fee from your refund.
You can check ITR refund like this-
1. If you have filed your income tax return and want to check the status of your refund, you can easily check it on the e-filing portal.
2. For this you have to click on the Income Tax e-filing portal eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/.
3. After this, you will have to enter your user ID and password.
4. After that select Income Tax Return option and check the Filed Return option.
5. Here you can check the status of your refund as per assessment year.

2. PAN has to be linked to Aadhaar.
