Italy's Pelloni and Krasikova reach Wimbledon finals

In the semi-final match played at the All England Club, Italy's Jasmine Pelloni defeated Croatia's Donna Vekic in a tough match and entered the final.

Before arriving at Eastbourne this year, Pelloni had not yet won a tour-level match on grass courts and she became the first Italian woman to reach the Wimbledon final. In a thrilling and closely contested semifinal match, after losing the first set 6-2 against Donna, Pelloni won the final in two consecutive sets 6-4, 7-6 (10-8). Donna gave a tough fight to Pelloni but Jasmine eventually emerged victorious in the contest. The match, which lasted 2.51 hours, was officially the longest Wimbledon women's semifinal match. The 28-year-old Italian player also made it to the semifinals of the French Open this year, where she missed out on the title.

In the other semi-final, Czech Republic's Krasikova entered the final after defeating finalist Manati Rybakina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Italy's Lorenzo Musetti defeated America's Taylor Fritz to enter the Wimbledon semi-finals and reach the last four of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. The match was won 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in a match that lasted three and a half hours. This is the first time he has progressed beyond the fourth round in a Grand Slam but now he faces the biggest challenge of his career in the form of Novak Djokovic.

Seven-time champion Djokovic reached his 13th Wimbledon and 49th Grand Slam semifinal, equalling Roger Federer's record. In the women's category, 2022 champion Elena Rybakina defeated Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-2. While 31st-ranked Barbara Krasnikova defeated 13th-ranked Jelena Ostapenko 6-4, 7-6.
