It will destroy the enemy in the air, know the power of SAMAR missile!

The Indian Air Force had acquired R-73 and R-27 missiles from Russia years ago. These missiles were fired from air to air. But when their stock became old and it seemed that it would be of no use, Indian scientists converted it into a surface-to-air missile system. This system was named Summer Air Difference System. This surface-to-air missile demonstrated its accurate strike capability in the Vayu Shakti 2024 exercise recently held in Pokhran, Rajasthan.

power of this weapon

A SAMAR missile was fired from a truck. It can hit any air target at a speed of 2982 km/hr. This means that the enemy does not get a chance to escape. The full name of SAMAR is Surface-to-Air Missile for Assured Retaliation (SAMAR). This missile system is operated by the BRD unit of the Air Force. It can target any type of air targets i.e. helicopters and fighter jets. There is a provision to install two missiles on its launcher. The range of this missile is 12 to 40 kilometers.

Two types of missiles are used

SAMAR 1. It was a short-range air-to-air missile, which India is converting and using as a surface-to-air missile. Its weight is 105 kg, length is 9.7 feet, diameter is 6.5 inches and weapon is 7.4 kg. SAMAR 2 means air-to-air missile. This is a 253 kg missile. It is 13.4 feet long. Its diameter is 9.1 inches. There are fans installed in it. Its wingspan is 30.4 inches. A 39 kg warhead can be installed in it. The explosions may be fission or continuous rods.

different trucks

The launch truck that fires these missiles is also different. Ashok Leyland Stallion 4×4 trucks have been used for SAMAR-1. While BEML Tatra T815 8×8 trucks are used to fire the SAMAR-2 missile. The missiles present in it are actually Russian. Which has changed in India. These missiles are – Vympel R-73 and R-27 missiles. The Indian Air Force has thousands of Vympel R-73E missiles.
