Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan and Rozgar Aadhaar Jankalyan (PM-SURJ) national portal and sanctioned loan assistance to one lakh entrepreneurs from the deprived sections of the country. On this occasion, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Seni) distributed Ayushman Health Cards to Safai Mitras (sewer and septic tank workers) under the National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem (Namaste) in a screening program organized at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. And distributed PPE kits.
The Governor said that today many welfare schemes of the Central and State Government are running, it is the collective responsibility of all of us to take those schemes to the deprived and eligible beneficiaries. Today, under the Vikas Bharat Sankalp programme, the government is trying to benefit every scheme by taking it to the last beneficiary so that they can be brought into the mainstream.
On this occasion, the Governor appreciated the hard work of the Safai Mitras present and said that all these workers work like warriors in the front line and on the basis of their hard work are bringing a new change in the society.
PM-Suraj and Namaste are commendable initiatives for ecosystem empowerment:
The Governor said that social empowerment of marginalized people should be among the top priorities for any society. Many steps have been taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi to empower the weak and deprived sections so that they get their full rights. PM-Suraj and Namaste Ecosystem are also commendable initiatives for the empowerment of people from weaker sections of the society. These schemes clearly show the government's commitment towards the upliftment of Dalits and the underprivileged. He appealed to the people present to take advantage of all the schemes.
