Ranchi, 7 October (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said that in order to provide equal opportunity to all the candidates in the election process, the Election Commission of India has fixed the limit of expenditure by the candidates for the Assembly elections at Rs 40 lakh. Along with this, for clean, fair and peaceful elections, all the candidates and political parties will timely provide the details of their election expenditure to the concerned officer's office as per the prescribed procedure of monitoring the election expenditure. He was giving information related to election expenditure for all recognized political parties on Monday.

Kumar said that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the election booths of the candidates are to be outside the radius of 200 meters of the polling station premises belonging to political parties and candidates. Care should be taken in the election booth that no food items are served inside it, nor is crowd allowed. Also, installing symbols or flags of candidates in any election booth is strictly prohibited. He said that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, a perimeter of 200 meters of all the polling station premises has to be marked three days before the polling day. It was also informed that the party flags have to be removed from all the private places within 72 hours of the announcement of the elections, after which after the withdrawal of nominations, after the list of candidates is prepared, the party flags will be removed from the private places as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Flags can be installed in compliance.

On this occasion, point-wise information was provided by the recognized political parties and representatives on the issues like estimation of expenditure incurred during elections and provisions for submitting expenditure report related to it. Joint Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, OSD Geeta Choubey, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Dev Das Dutta, Junior Electoral Officer Sunil Kumar and representatives of all recognized political parties were present.
