Under the joint auspices of District Legal Services Authority, Health Department and Municipal Council, an awareness camp on prohibition of tobacco, solid waste management and animal cruelty was inaugurated by Additional District Judge and Secretary DLSA Vinay Arya at the Government Inter College campus in Mahuvaria on Monday.
The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and the Additional District Judge made the students and employees of the school take a pledge to give up tobacco and gutka, that they will not indulge in intoxicants themselves and will also encourage others not to indulge in intoxicants. He told that a person who consumes tobacco, paan, beedi, cigarette, gutka gets diseases like heart disease, diabetes, TB, paralysis, blindness, lung disease and cancer. One person dies from these diseases every 6.5 seconds. Due to the high quantity of nicotine in tobacco, it not only makes a person addicted to the drug, but also due to its side effects, many diseases start appearing in the human body. It is very important to have strong will power to quit the drug. Regarding solid waste, he informed that Solid Waste Management Rule-2016 has been implemented. Under this, there is a need to keep the village, city, street-colony, one's house and outside and surrounding areas clean. Serious diseases spread due to dirt and accumulation of water. Gave advice to the girl students about wet garbage and dry garbage under solid waste and also asked them to be kind and love animals.
Dr. Rajesh Yadav told that to give up any kind of addiction, it is very important to have strong will power, only then one will be successful in giving up tobacco, alcohol, paan, beedi-cigarette, gutka, gul manjan etc.
Solid Waste Management Committee members Manoj Kumar Seth, Surya Prakash Yadav and Sanjay Kumar gave detailed information about preparing compost from wet waste and dry waste referred to the Solid Waste Management Committee under Solid Waste Management Rule-2016. Vice Principal GIC Jai Singh conducted the programme.
