Jammu, September 12 (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party's Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson Abhijeet Jasrotia termed the statement of National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah calling members of the Village Security Group (VDG) as BJP workers as highly objectionable and condemnable.
He said on Thursday that Omar Abdullah was dividing the Village Security Group (VDG) on the basis of religion. Jasrotia said that the services and sacrifices of the VDG in the fight against terrorism are invaluable and these youths, along with the security forces and police, have played an important role in restoring peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference at the Bharatiya Janata Party's election media center, party spokesperson Abhijeet Jasrotia condemned Omar Abdullah's statement about VDG in Bhaderwah. Party spokesperson GL Raina (former MLC), Balbir Ram Ratan and media head Dr. Pradeep Mahotra were also present at the press conference. Jasrotia said that it is a very serious matter that the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir called VDG a BJP worker in a meeting in Bhaderwah. He said that this statement insulted the brave soldiers and VDG who saved us from terrorism without caring for their lives.
Jasrotia further said that an attempt is being made to divide the VDGs in the name of religion by calling them BJP workers. He reminded Omar Abdullah that terrorism started here only after the rigging of the 1987 elections. He said that Omar Abdullah knows very well why the VDGs were formed. All communities have made sacrifices in the fight against killings and due to this peace was restored in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jasrotia said that not only Hindus but Muslims were also given weapons and it was not on the basis of religion but everyone took part in the fight against terrorism.
