It is difficult for BJP to wait for a clean sweep in Rajasthan, the popularity of an independent candidate on one seat has increased the tension

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Will BJP, which gave a crushing defeat to Congress in the last two Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, be able to win all the seats this time? This question is currently being heard everywhere in the political circles of the state. At the same time, looking at the current situation in Rajasthan, it is being estimated that this time the contest on 6 seats of Rajasthan is likely to be very interesting.

Congress has fielded its candidates on 22 seats in Rajasthan while Nagaur and Sikar seats have been left for Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) and CPI (M) as part of the alliance. The party has not yet announced the candidate for Banswara seat. On the other hand, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Center and the state has announced candidates for all 25 seats.

According to political equations, this time the contest is expected to be tough or interesting on Churu, Kota-Bundi, Sikar, Nagaur, Banswara and Barmer seats. The contest has become interesting in Barmer with independent MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati contesting the Lok Sabha elections. Congress has given tickets to leaders from other parties in Churu (Rahul Kaswan), Kota-Bundi (Prahlad Gunjal) and Barmer (Ummedaram). Whereas in Banswara, BJP has fielded Mahendrajit Singh Malviya from Congress.

Taking advantage of the internal rift between former opposition leader Rajendra Rathore and BJP MP from Churu Rahul Kaswan, Congress included Kaswan in its party. Kaswan later resigned from the post of MP. Congress has declared Churuthi Kaswan as its candidate, while BJP has placed its bets on newcomer and Paralympian Devendra Jhajharia.

Churu seat in North Rajasthan is a Jat dominated area and candidates of both the parties are from the Jat community. Congress has MLAs from five of the eight assembly constituencies falling under Churu Lok Sabha seat. BJP has two seats and BSP has one seat. Despite its strong position in the Lok Sabha constituency, instead of giving ticket to a leader from its own party, Congress trusted Kaswan, who had left the BJP. Modi wave is also considered a big factor in the victory of two-time MP Kaswan. It is a different thing that this time the circumstances and the party are different for Kaswan.

Similarly, Congress has included Prahlad Gunjal, an influential BJP leader from Hadoti region, to take on BJP's Om Birla from the Kota-Bundi parliamentary seat. He has made former MLA Gunjal, who joined Congress, a candidate. There are a total of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state for which voting will be held in two phases this month.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won all 25 Lok Sabha seats independently. At the same time, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 24 seats and its ally RLP won one seat in Nagaur. This time BJP is again contesting the elections alone, while Hanuman Beniwal's RLP has joined hands with Congress on the same seat of Nagaur. Congress has not won a single seat in the last two Lok Sabha elections while it was in power in the state during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
