Israel responded to Hamas' attack with air strikes on October 8. Israel launched Operation Swords of Iron and began a complete siege of Gaza and ordered the evacuation of approximately 1.5 million people living in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The consequences are still visible a year later, with Gazans suffering severe shortages of water, food and other basic amenities. If we talk about Gaza, about 70 percent of the buildings there have been completely destroyed. According to Gaza's Health Ministry, more than 42 thousand people have been killed so far in the attack. Of these, 16,765 are children. About 98 thousand people have been injured. More than 10 thousand people are missing. At the same time, so far 1,139 Israelis have been killed and 8,730 have been injured in this war. Apart from this, 125 journalists have also been killed in this attack.

How much damage was caused in the Israel-Hamas war?

According to Al Jazeera's report, 80 percent of commercial facilities and 87 percent of school buildings in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed due to the Israeli attack. 144,000 to 175,000 buildings were damaged or destroyed in the Gaza Strip. Only 17 out of 36 hospitals are functioning. 68 percent of the road network has been destroyed and 68 percent of land suitable for agriculture has become barren.

In terms of economic damage, Gaza's GDP has declined by 81 percent. 2.01 lakh people have become unemployed. About 20 lakh people are homeless. 85 thousand Palestinian workers have lost their jobs.
