Jamshedpur, 30 March (Hindustan Reporter). To reach the playoffs of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24, Jamshedpur FC will face Kerala Blasters FC in the second match of the double header to be played at its home ground JRD Tata Sports Complex this evening.
Kerala Blasters FC have lost four of their last five matches. The Yellow Army is fifth in the table with 29 points from 15 matches. They have not yet officially qualified for the playoffs, but are eight points ahead of sixth-placed Punjab FC (21).
Meanwhile, Jamshedpur FC have won two of their last five matches and have 20 points from 19 matches. They are one point behind Punjab FC, and will face Kerala Blasters FC, Chennaiyin FC and FC Goa respectively in their last three league matches.
At the moment, first place looks a long way off for Kerala Blasters, but they would like to find some form before qualifying for the playoffs.
“We are working on developing a project and this is our third season doing so,” Kerala Blasters FC Serbian head coach Ivan Vukomanovic said in the pre-match press conference on Friday. “That means trying to prepare the club, and every year when we compete, our aim is to be among the best teams in the country, be in the playoffs and fight for awards among other things.”
Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil said before the match, “If you ask me, considering the quality of our team and the players we have, we deserve to finish in the top six and qualify for the playoffs. The team is performing well so far and if we continue to get the support of the fans, we will definitely make it to the playoffs.”
