A UN report says that although the terror group Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant-Khorasan (ISIL-K) is not capable of carrying out large-scale attacks in India, it is trying to recruit terrorists through its handlers in the country. It can carry out stand-alone attacks

This was mentioned in the 34th report of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team on ISIL, Al-Qaeda and associated individuals and entities released on Tuesday. The report said that member countries expressed concern that terrorism emerging from Afghanistan would cause insecurity in the region. Despite not being able to carry out large-scale attacks in India, ISIL-K wants to recruit people through its handlers in the country who can carry out single-handed attacks. It has released a booklet in Urdu promoting Hindu-Muslim hatred and showing its strategy towards India. It said that ISIL-K has become the most serious threat in the region, spreading terror outside Afghanistan.

Tehreek-e-Taliban could turn into a refugee organisation

According to the report, support and cooperation between Tehreek-e-Taliban, Taliban and Al-Qaeda has increased in the Indian subcontinent. They share terrorists and training camps in Afghanistan, and Tehreek-e-Jihad is carrying out more deadly attacks under the banner of Pakistan. It said, therefore, Tehreek-e-Taliban could turn into a shelter organization for other terrorist groups. The report said that a possible merger of Tehreek-e-Taliban and Al-Qaeda could increase the threat against Pakistan and eventually India, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Some member countries estimate that the number of ISIL-K terrorists has increased from 4 thousand to 6 thousand.
