Irfan Solanki got bail from the High Court, but the sentence remained intact

Prayagraj, November 14 (HS). Allahabad High Court has approved the bail of former MLA Irfan Solanki in the arson case, but the court has not stayed the sentence at present. Due to today’s order of the court, by-election will be held on Sisamau seat, and his legislature will not be restored.

This order was passed by the bench of Justice Rajeev Gupta and Justice Surendra Singh on the appeal filed on behalf of Irfan Solanki. The High Court had reserved its decision on November 8 after hearing the arguments of both the parties.

MP MLA Court of Kanpur had sentenced Irfan Solanki and brother Rizwan Solanki to 7 years in the arson case. After this his MLA was gone. An appeal was filed in the High Court against this sentence and a demand was made that the court should stay the sentence and release him on bail.

The state government has also filed an appeal in the High Court against the punishment to further increase the punishment. The court will take further orders on this.

Irfan and his brother Rizwan, living in Defense Colony, Jajmau, had burnt down the temporary house built in the plot of neighboring woman Nazir Fatima. Nazir Fatima had lodged an FIR against Irfan, Rizwan and many others at Jajmau police station on 8 November 2022. The police had filed three charge sheets in this arson case.
