With the help of half-centuries from captain Ajinkya Rahane and Sarfaraz Khan, Ranji champion Mumbai has scored 237 runs for four wickets in the first innings at the end of the first day of the Irani Cup match against Rest of India. At the time of stumps, Rahane scored 86 runs in 197 balls with the help of six fours and one six and Sarfaraz Khan scored 54 runs in 88 balls.

Rest of India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mumbai team had a bad start and lost the wickets of opener Prithvi Shaw (4), Ayush Mahatre (19) and Hardik Tamar (0) till the score of 37 runs.
