Israel Attack on Hezbollah: Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the Israeli army IDF has carried out massive attacks on several Hezbollah bases. The IDF says it has destroyed several Hezbollah bases in southern Lebanon in a series of attacks overnight.
Israel's attack on Hezbollah's hideout has come amid threats from Iran and Lebanon. Tensions in the Middle East are at their peak after the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran. Iran has announced to take revenge for Haniyeh's death from Israel. Angry with the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in the capital Tehran on 31 July, Iran had threatened to teach Israel a lesson. And now it is believed that Iran can open a war front at any time. US Secretary of State Antti Blinken also said that given the threats from Iran and Hezbollah, this country can attack Israel at any time. But ignoring the threats from Iran and Lebanon, Israel has destroyed many Hezbollah bases.
The reason for anger of Iran and Lebanon?
In view of these threats, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Iran and its allies want to bind us with terrorism. We are committed to confront them on every front, in every region, whether near or far.
Tensions have escalated since the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran's capital Tehran last week. A day before this incident, Hezbollah's top military commander Fuad Shukar was assassinated in Lebanon's capital Beirut. Haniyeh was the head of Hamas in Gaza and had gone to Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's new president.
On the other hand, Hezbollah had also started targeting Israel. Hezbollah fired about 50 rockets on Israel last Saturday. However, Israel's Iron Dome foiled this attempt.
Fears of a full-scale war in the Middle East have increased after Iran and Hezbollah called for retaliation. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden held an emergency meeting to discuss the current situation. The Pentagon has announced the deployment of additional troops in the region to prevent further escalation of tensions.
