Iqbal of Gujarat's Bharuch won as an independent candidate in Britain, will make a mark in the House of Lords

UK Elections 2024: After a spectacular victory in the British general election, Britain's new Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his new cabinet. In which an MP of Indian origin is seen dominating the new government. Then Iqbal Mohammad Ahmedabadi of Bharuch won the election as an independent candidate. He contested the election from Dewsbury and Battle constituency of West Yorkshire. He originally hails from Tankaria village of Bharuch.

It is noteworthy that this is the first time since 1907 that an independent candidate has won the election in West Yorkshire. Iqbal Mohammed won the Dewsbury and Batley constituency. He got 41 percent votes in the West Yorkshire seat.

Alok, born in Agra, will now sit in the House of Lords

Former Conservative Party MP of Indian origin Alok Sharma will now sit in the House of Lords. Britain's King Charles has nominated him for the Upper House. In the recently concluded elections, he had decided not to contest the MP election this time. 56-year-old Alok Sharma, born in Agra, made a significant contribution to tackling climate change as the chairman of the Climate Summit two years ago.

Big victory for the Labor Party

Starmer's Labour Party has won a landslide victory in the UK general election. After being in opposition for 14 years, the Labour Party made a strong comeback and the Conservative Party was wiped out in this storm of the Labour Party. It is worth noting that the Labour Party has won 410 out of 650 seats in the election.
