IPL 2024: Playoff race becomes more interesting, tough competition for fourth place, two teams almost out

IPL 2024 Playoff Scenario: As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 tournament progresses, the race for the playoffs is becoming more interesting. 38 matches have been played in the IPL so far and the excitement is at its peak, with cricket fans eager to see more of their team. However, till now no team has confirmed its place in the playoffs nor is any team out of the race. However, if we look at the current points table, it is clear that three teams are standing very close to it, while the wait for two teams is almost over. But the possibilities are still alive.

16 points will be needed to reach the playoffs

Any team will need at least 16 points to reach the IPL playoffs. That means the team will have to win eight matches. After defeating Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals have 14 points with their seventh win in eight matches. This means that Rajasthan will now need to win only one more match, whereas it has 6 matches left.

KKR and SRH are also likely to reach the playoffs

Apart from Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are also very close to the playoffs. Both teams have won five out of seven matches. That means at present both the teams have 10 points. And there are still 7 matches left, out of which if even three are won then the job will be done. But there is a tough fight for the fourth-ranked team.

There is a competition between these three teams for the fourth place

Chennai Super Kings is currently at fourth position in the points table. The team has won four out of seven matches and has eight points. Apart from this, Lucknow Super Giants has also been successful in winning four out of seven matches and also has 8 points. Apart from this, Gujarat Titans team has won only 4 out of 8 matches so far, which means they also have 8 points. These three teams have equal points. The only difference is that CSK and KKR have seven matches each, whereas GT has only six matches left.

Playoffs are still open for these teams

The situation of Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals is similar. Both teams have played 8 matches and have 6 points with only 3 wins. Although their chances of reaching the playoffs are not lost, the wait is tough. Whereas the condition of Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore is very bad. Punjab has won two out of eight matches and has four points. RCB has registered only one win out of 8 and has two points.

Only Karish can take RCB to the playoffs.

The doors are still open for Mumbai and Delhi, but the wait is almost over for Punjab and Bengaluru. But they are not out of the playoff race yet. Punjab team can score 16 points if it wins all its matches, but even if RCB wins all its matches, it will still have only 14 points, which will not be enough to reach the playoffs. In the next three-four days, the picture will become clear as to which team will go to the playoffs and which will be out.
