CSK said in a statement regarding the captaincy, “MS Dhoni has handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings to Ruturaj Gaikwad before the start of IPL 2024. Ruturaj has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in the IPL during this period.
Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been an important member of the Chennai Super Kings team since 2019. Meanwhile his performance has been good. Gaikwad's contribution in IPL 2023 was important, he scored 590 runs in 16 matches. MS Dhoni has played 250 IPL matches, scoring 5,082 runs at an average of 38.79 and scoring 24 fifties.
