Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 26, an official media release issued by the IPL said. He will be fined Rs 12 lakh under the IPL code of conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, his team's first offense of the season.

Also got punishment during the match

Gujarat Titans did not start the bowling of the 20th over on time. For this reason this fine has been imposed on Gill. He also got punishment in the match because during the last over there were only 4 players outside the 30 yard circle. If the 20th over had been bowled on time, captain Shubman Gill would have been allowed to field 5 players outside the 30-yard circle. However, CSK scored only 8 runs in the last over.

Penalty for slow over rate in second match

This was the second match of Gujarat Titans and captain Shubman Gill committed the first offense of slow over rate in the second match. If he is found guilty for the second time, he will be fined Rs 30 lakh. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee will be imposed on all other players of the team. Due to slow over rate for the third time, the captain will be fined Rs 30 lakh and banned for one league match. The remaining players will be fined Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of the match fee.
