There is a good news for cricket lovers. The 17th season of the Indian Premier League will be played in the country. In fact, due to the Lok Sabha elections, BCCI had earlier announced the schedule of matches till April 7 only. However, now the schedule of the remaining matches has also been announced.
According to the report, all the matches of IPL 2024 will be played in the country only. The final match of the league will be played on 26 May in Chennai. Qualifier matches will be played in Ahmedabad and Chennai. All 74 matches of this season have taken place in India.
The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches of IPL 2024 will be played on May 21 and 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While Qualifier 2 and the final will be played on 24 and 26 May in Chepauk, Chennai.
The report quoted BCCI Secretary Jay Shah as confirming that the second phase of IPL 2024 will not be played abroad. All matches will be held in India. The report states that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has refused to shift the second phase of IPL 2024 out of the country.
Several reports said that some IPL teams had sought to shift the remaining matches of IPL 2024 out of the country due to the Lok Sabha elections. There were also claims that BCCI members were exploring the possibility of hosting the second part of the IPL in the UAE. However, Jay Shah put an end to all these speculations.
Lok Sabha election dates have been announced
Let us tell you that on March 16 (Saturday), the Election Commission had announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections. Voting for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Voting will take place in 22 states and union territories in one phase.
