Kathmandu, August 20 (HS). During her visit to India, Nepal's Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana handed over the invitation letter for the state visit of Nepal to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Nepal-India relations were discussed during this meeting held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Monday evening. Regarding this meeting, Indian Prime Minister Modi has written on X that he is happy to welcome Nepal's Foreign Minister Rana. The close civilizational relationship between India and Nepal is a progressive and multifaceted partnership and India is looking forward to continued progress in the development partnership between the two countries.
In a statement issued by the Nepalese Embassy in Delhi, it was said that during this meeting, discussions were held on providing new air routes to Nepal and Pancheshwar project, border security, energy and other issues. Prime Minister Modi was also informed about the agreement reached on building a bilateral plant during the foreign minister level talks between the two countries. According to the Nepalese Embassy, issues of trade and transport, investment and infrastructure construction were also discussed in the meeting. Nepal expressed happiness over the export of about 1000 MW of electricity and expressed confidence that this will make Nepal economically more prosperous.
On Monday, the Indian government approved the export of 251 MW of electricity from 12 hydropower projects in Nepal. During the meeting, Nepal's Foreign Minister Dr. Rana thanked India for its continued support for the development of Nepali cricket and for organizing a well-equipped training camp in Bangalore for training the Nepal national team. Apart from reviewing the progress made in bilateral initiatives and development projects, the meeting also discussed opportunities for further cooperation in existing and new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
