AHMEDABAD: Indian stock market took a huge hit today due to unfavorable global reports along with sentiment in global markets as well as heavy selling by foreign investors among other reports. As a result, investors' wealth (BSE market cap) was reduced by Rs 9.20 lakh crore at the end of trading.

As soon as the relief package was announced by China, the news of foreign investors leaving India and moving to China as well as the news of large-scale selling in foreign stock markets also had an adverse impact on the Indian market. Apart from this, the news of decline in profit growth in the results announced so far by companies at the domestic level also had an adverse impact on the market. Apart from this, high valuations also had an adverse impact on the market. Along with largecap, smallcap and midcap stocks also saw a huge fall today.

Based on these reports, Sensex fell 930 points to close at 80220 at the end of the last hour due to heavy selling pressure from foreign investors including funds and operators led by Chomar. While Nifty fell by 309 points to the level of 24472.
