
Mutual Fund: The Association of Mutual Funds (AMFI) today released mutual fund data for March 2025 where AMFI reported that investors withdrawn money from equity mutual funds. The news agency PTI, citing an AMFI report, said that the investment in equity mutual funds in March declined by 14 percent to Rs 25,082 crore due to the ongoing instability in the market. March was the third consecutive month when investment in equity mutual funds declined.
How much has been invested in equity mutual funds in the last three months?
According to the data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) on Friday, equity mutual funds invested Rs 25,082 crore in March, which is much lower than investment of Rs 29,303 crore in February, Rs 39,688 crore in January and Rs 41,156 crore in December.
In the equity fund category, the flexi-cap funds made the highest investment in March, with an investment of ₹ 5,165 crore. However, sectoral/themetic funds fell in a sharp decline, with a strong investment of ₹ 5,711 crore in February, and only ₹ 735 crore in March.
This decline in mutual fund investment is a sign of change in investor spirit, in which investors are moving from investing in specific areas to more diverse and liquid investment strategies.
Mid and Small Cap Mutual Fund performing in March
In March, ₹ 3,439 crore was invested in mid-cap mutual funds and ₹ 4,092 crore in small-cap mutual fund. This figure is slightly higher than a flow of ₹ 3,406 crore in mid-cap and ₹ 3,722 crore in small-cap.
In contrast, investment in large-cap funds has declined. The investment in March stood at Rs 2,479 crore, compared to Rs 2,866 crore in February.
Gold withdrawn from Gold ETF in March
In February, after investing Rs 1,980 crore by investors, Rs 77 crore was withdrawn from the Gold Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) last month. Apart from this, Rs 2.02 lakh crore was withdrawn from date funds in March, which was Rs 6,525 crore in February.
In March, a total investment of Rs 1.64 lakh crore was withdrawn from mutual funds, compared to Rs 40,000 crore in February. Despite the increase in withdrawal, assets under the management of the Mutual Fund Industry increased marginally to Rs 65.7 lakh crore at the end of March, which was Rs 64.53 lakh crore in the previous month.
