Bareilly, 3 December (Hindustan Reporter) On the instructions of the government, the Divisional Commissioner conducted an investigation into over-rating (selling at prices higher than the value) of domestic and foreign liquor and beer shops in the districts of Bareilly division. During investigation, irregularities were found in 12 shops of the division. A total fine of Rs 10,62,500 was imposed on the guilty shopkeepers, which the licensees have deposited in the treasury.

District Bareilly:
Over rating confirmed at 1 shop in Tehsil Sadar.
Fine: Rs 77,500
District Badaun:
Irregularities were found at 3 shops in Tehsil Bilsi and 4 shops in Tehsil Sahaswan.
Fine: Rs 6,75,000
District Pilibhit:
A case of over rating came to light at 1 shop each in Tehsil Kalinagar, Bisalpur, Amaria and Puranpur.
Fine: Rs 3,10,000
Strictness of Divisional Commissioner
The Divisional Commissioner made it clear that strict action will be taken against such irregularities. All District Magistrates have been directed to regularly check liquor shops and ensure compliance with the rules. The purpose of this action of the government is to provide products to the customers at reasonable rates and maintain transparency in the market.
