Internship scheme started for graduate and post graduate students of Library Science in BHU

Varanasi, 03 December (HS). Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has launched a new internship program for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Library Science. This scheme has been started under the Institution of Eminence initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The objective of the scheme is to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional skills. This program is dedicated to the father of modern library science in India, Dr. S. R. Dedicated to the legacy of Ranganathan. Famous librarian Dr. S. R. Ranganathan had deep connections with Kasi Hindu University. His incomparable contribution in the field of library and information science laid the foundation of modern library science in India.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain told that Dr. S.R. The Ranganathan internship program will open new avenues for growth and learning. There will also be an opportunity to connect excellent talents with the university. He told that Dr. S.R. The Ranganathan Internship Program will provide practical training in library operations to interns. Will bring forth new ideas and perspectives of the youth. Under this program, initially 20 interns will be selected for one year, who will be given a stipend of Rs 20,000 per month. Interns with excellent performance may be given an extension of one year. Interns who complete a minimum period of six months will also be provided with an internship certificate. “This scheme will provide a great opportunity for aspiring library professionals to hone their skills and prepare themselves for future roles,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor informed that the Library System of this University currently runs an internship program for Library Science students of the University. This program has contributed significantly in enhancing the skills of the interns and the overall efficiency of library operations. He informed that this program will be managed by the sponsored research and industrial consultancy cell of the university.
