Internal discord of Rajasthan Congress : First in Haryana and then in Maharashtra assembly elections, Congress party had to face a crushing defeat. After this the party is considering the reasons for defeat. However, the internal strife in the party is not going to end before the churning of defeat. After losing power in Rajasthan, the internal discord between Sachin Pilot and Gehlot has once again come to the fore. On Monday (December 16), in the State Congress Committee meeting in the capital Jaipur, once again there was a tussle between the two stalwarts, after which there was an uproar till the banner. Actually, the picture of Congress National General Secretary and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot is missing from the banner of the meeting.
Questions were raised on the strength of the party
The issue reportedly arose when some Congress members expressed their displeasure over the absence of the pilot’s photograph. This issue was first raised by State Secretary Narpat Meghwal. Later Vibha Mathur also raised questions on the disappearance of Sachin Pilot’s photo. Vibha Mathur, granddaughter of former Chief Minister Shivcharan Mathur and pilot supporter, also joined the debate later. Vibha Mathur said that when the picture of the main leader is missing then how can we talk about strengthening the party? If there is a picture of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the banner then why not of Sachin Pilot?
Focus on party unity: Dotasara
After the entire issue drew sharp comments from party members, state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra defended the decision citing the protocol behind the banner design. Dotasara criticized the leaders who made the comments, saying the photographs on the posters followed Congress guidelines. Apart from this, while giving advice to the party members, he said that our members should pay attention to the unity of the party.
This is an internal matter
The controversy started with a banner which prominently displayed photographs of senior Congress leaders at the central and state levels, but did not include Sachin Pilot. Addressing the matter, Dotasara described the incident as an internal matter and said, ‘People have expressed their concerns, which have been accepted.’
Due to this Congress lost power
Let us tell you that during the Rajasthan Assembly elections 2023, the internal dispute between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot had caused a lot of damage to the Congress. Along with this, Congress also had to lose power. BJP won 115 seats and Congress won 69 seats. However, in the 2018 elections, Congress captured the state with 100 seats. Whereas BJP had only 73 seats. After the election results, political analysts cited internal strife as the main reason behind the Congress’s defeat.
