The Surat Crime Branch team has busted an interstate gang that used to target elderly single women in various districts of Gujarat state and take off their jewellery by luring them with cash, grains, clothes. Police have arrested 4 accused and 9 crimes have been solved in the police investigation.

According to the information, elderly women are targeted at different places in Surat city and they are given money, clothes, grains and prasadi in charity, but if they are wearing gold ornaments then they will not get help, they keep the gold ornaments in their purse and if you notice, incidents of removing gold ornaments have come to the fore, an investigation was conducted by the police regarding this matter. Meanwhile, today the Surat Crime Branch team has arrested an interstate gang and taken legal action.

The Surat Crime Branch team has arrested Shankarbhai Kishanbhai Chauhan (45), Nagendra alias Nagu Chandubhai Kale (25), Sanjaybhai Sitarambhai Kale (55) and Samirbeg Nasirbeg (22). Police investigation revealed a total of 9 crimes in Surat's Chowkbazar, Katargam, Singanpore, Limbayat, Amroli, Varachha, Pune and Jambusar police stations.

The police interrogated the accused and told that from 2017 till now they were targeting old women wearing jewellery in various districts of Gujarat state and donating cash, grains and clothes to the poor, etc. They have tricked old women into taking off their jewellery and committing crimes. Among the accused, Shankar Kishan Chauhan was carrying out the crime by keeping different people with him in the gang and was getting the work done by those people.

Talking about the modus operandi of the accused, police said that the accused used to target elderly women wearing jewellery in Surat city and Bharuch and lure them to donate cash, clothes, grains and prasadi and trick them by saying that if our sheth sees the jewellery you are wearing, he will not donate it. Asking to remove the gold jewellery, they first gave a little cash and packets of wafers, biscuits in a bag. The modus operandi is that take the wallet with you, look at the bag of biscuits and wafers, five-seven knots at the same time, give the bag to my old woman, and take the wallet along with the wallet.
