Under the joint aegis of Rajasthan Police Academy and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a one-day inter-departmental dialogue program was organized in the auditorium of Rajasthan Police Academy on Tuesday regarding transformative solutions to the problem of gender-based violence and its harmful practices, effective execution, prevention measures etc. Was organized.

Director General of Police, Anti Corruption Bureau, Dr. Ravi Prakash Mehrada congratulated UNFPA on its anniversary on completing 50 years of working in India. He said that UNFPA officers, trainee police officers, academic scholars from Jodhpur Law University, Suraksha Sakhi, policemen working in Nirbhaya Squad, various officers and personnel and officers and employees of related departments will discuss the sensitive and important issue based on gender. The seminar being organized is very important and relevant in the present times.

Considering women as the highest ideal, we have always established them as goddesses of knowledge, wealth and power as the highest worshipable ideals. By establishing mutual coordination with the police and all other concerned departments, we can eradicate gender-based violence through uniformity, equity, equality, universality, awareness and collective efforts and strict and effective enforcement of laws.

Andrea M. Wojnar, UNFPA India Representative and Country Director, Bhutan, started her address by saying that it is a matter of happiness that the leadership and officers of Rajasthan Police are actively working on sensitive issues like gender issues. Praising the organization of such programs, he expressed hope for their positive results and said that by removing the lack of education and awareness, despite economic disparity, gender-based conditions can be changed through knowledge and attitude. He said that for positive efforts towards gender equality and women empowerment, it is necessary for the police to respond responsibly. He thanked and expressed his gratitude for the inspiring leadership, courage and cooperative attitude of Rajasthan Police.

ADGP Training Ashok Rathore said that this seminar being organized on important gender based issue is very important and useful for everyone in the present context. Giving the example of “Ram going to play and Sita bringing food”, he stressed on being aware by breaking the prison of social mentality of gender inequality prevalent in the society since past.

ADGP and Director S. Sengathir gave the welcome address at the beginning of the program and said that whether it is about the world, India or Rajasthan, the issue of gender equality is very sensitive. State Head UNFPA Dr. Deepesh Gupta said that UNFPA has been continuously working in India for the last 50 years on issues like gender equality so that gender-based violence can be reduced to zero. He also presented a review report of the work done during this period and also screened a short film – “Thank You Rajasthan Police to Support UNFPA”, praising the functioning and cooperation of Rajasthan Police.

Panel discussions were held on these topics

The first panel discussion on “Multi-Sectoral Collaboration Across the Socio-Ecological Model to Combat Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices” was organized at the event. Which was addressed by ADGP Civil Rights Malini Aggarwal IPS as a speaker and moderated by Shobhita Rajagopal, former professor of Institute of Developmental Studies, Jaipur. In the second panel discussion, ‘Combating Tech-Facilitated Gender Based Violence and Innovation to Deal with Gender Based Violence’, subject experts DGP Intelligence Sanjay Aggarwal and ADGP ATS and SOG VK Singh presented their statements. This session was moderated by Manjari Pant of Sanjay and UNICEF.

During the seminar, beware of misuse of personal, private and sensitive data, information leak, privacy, piracy, trolling, data manipulation in cyber space, cyber fraud, dodging, images based abuse, deep and shell fake, creep shot, cyber flashing, bullying. Emphasis was laid on using it with caution and with safety standards, being careful about phishing, online impersonation, etc.
