However, this policy is valid only during the journey. The policy expires as soon as you reach your destination after completing your journey.

How to get insurance cover?

Three types of cover are provided under this policy:

1. Upon death:
   • If a passenger dies in a train accident, the family gets a cover of up to Rs 10 lakh.
2. In case of total disability:
   • A cover of Rs 10 lakh is provided even in case of complete disability due to accident.
3. In case of partial disability:
   • In case of temporary disability due to an accident, a cover of up to Rs 7.5 lakh is available.
4. In case of injury or treatment:
   • If you get injured during an accident and require treatment, a cover of up to Rs 2 lakh is available under the policy.

How to claim this policy?

• After the accident, necessary documents and medical report for claim have to be provided to IRCTC.
• The family has to submit death certificate or disability related documents.
