Lucknow, 01 March (HS). Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Durga Shankar Mishra has directed to compulsorily organize NCORD meetings every month in all the districts of the state. He has said that the districts where meetings are not being organized every month should be directed to organize meetings every month.
The Chief Secretary was presiding over the meeting of the state level committee of ENCORD on Friday. During this, he gave instructions to take maximum action by running a special campaign to make the districts drug free. He said that hot spots should be identified in every district and action should be taken against those involved in buying and selling illegal drugs. In smart cities, awareness should be created about the ill effects of drug addiction through various publicity mediums like social media, radio and television etc.
He said that awareness programs against drug abuse should be conducted regularly in schools, colleges and educational institutions on quarterly basis in the year in addition to any fixed period. Wall paintings based on the ill effects of drug addiction should be done in public places and people should also be made aware through cultural programs.
It was told in the meeting that in the year 2024, 737 cases were registered against illegal drugs in Uttar Pradesh, 907 persons were arrested and 4653.88 kg of illegal drugs were recovered. Similarly, 115 cases were registered by ANTF, 301 accused were arrested and 12134.19 kg of illegal drugs were recovered. A warehouse of illegal drugs was seized in Bareilly district.
