Instructions given to Home Secretary to evaluate the security and issue orders again

Nainital, July 08 (HS). After hearing the PIL filed in the High Court against providing Y Plus category security to independent MLA from Khanpur Haridwar, Umesh Sharma, as well as providing security to other dignitaries in an incorrect manner by the state government, the state government has directed the Home Secretary to evaluate the security of these dignitaries and issue orders again.
The case was heard before a division bench of Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal. According to the case, Haridwar resident Bhagat Singh had filed a PIL in the High Court saying that MLAs are given one security guard in the name of security and apart from this, if any MLA is in danger, then he is given an additional security guard.

Before giving security cover to any MLA, a report is given to the department by LIU. While giving the example of Sharma's case, he said that he has been given Y plus security on the basis of his application without following the procedure adopted while giving security. Not only this, he also has his own personal escort. The petitioner said that the local intelligence unit has said in its report that there is no threat to his life. Therefore, his Y plus security should be removed.
