Kanpur, 28 September (HS). During the 39th convocation of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, the HPV vaccination campaign for 153 adolescent girls was launched under the inspiration of Chancellor, Governor Anandiben Patel and the guidance of Vice Chancellor Professor Vinay Kumar Pathak in the Department of Health Sciences. Speaking at the launch of this campaign, Governor Anandiben Patel said that we respect women as mothers, sisters and daughters but when it comes to saving their lives from deadly cervical cancer, we give priority to saving money instead. Let's give. This is a betrayal of the society and country as well as one's own family.

Governor Anandiben Patel said that there is indifference in our country regarding the treatment of daughters. In India, one woman dies of cervical cancer every seven minutes. Most of these deaths are preventable through awareness, HPV vaccination and early detection. He sarcastically said that people have money for liquor but people are indifferent about the vaccine which is available for just Rs 25.

Vaccination for the prevention of cervical cancer has been started during the 39th convocation ceremony at CSJMU. In the presence of the Governor, 153 daughters from five villages were also given free cervical cancer vaccine in the university. These five villages – Ishwari Ganj, Hora Cachar, Barhat Bangar, Gabdaha and Sunauda have been adopted by the university. The girls who were vaccinated were also given the second dose by the university after six months.

Mayor Pramila Pandey, District Panchayat President Swapnil Varun, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Ayurvedacharya Dr. Vandana Pathak, Neetu Singh, Indira Dubey, Dr. Digvijay Sharma, Dr. Munish Rastogi and all the teachers and students of the department were present in the vaccination ceremony.
