While scrolling through photos or reel videos on Instagram, your screen brightness suddenly increases. This is not due to any glitch but due to the HDR mode present in Instagram, which suddenly increases the brightness when an HDR video appears in the feed.
HDR mode significantly increases screen brightness to make a scene appear brighter and more vibrant, which can hurt your eyes at night. If you are an Android user then currently you will not be able to disable HDR mode. However, iPhone users can turn off this feature.
Instagram supports HDR video playback in Apple iPhone 12 and newer models. In these models you can shoot HDR video in Dolby Vision format and upload it to Instagram. All these iPhone models have OLED screens, which support Instagram HDR video playback mode.
