Prisoners created audio library: The prisoners of Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Central Jail have done a noble and commendable work. These prisoners have created an audio library of about 4,500 books in different languages. This audio library will be very useful for handicapped and disabled students.

From food items to various commercial activities, the inmates of Ahmedabad Central Jail, which is famous for various commercial activities, have made a big contribution this time in the technology and digital sector and through this contribution, they have done good work for the visually impaired people. He has created a huge audio library for visually impaired students by converting over 4,500 books into audio.

PM Modi's suggestion showed a new path
In 2012, when PM Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he had suggested in a program that now in the age of technology, if jail inmates prepare books in brain script, then books should also be prepared. In audio form. Due to this suggestion, this project was created in Sabarmati Jail and today an audio library of 4500 books has been prepared. Thousands of disabled people are getting benefit from this.

This project will also be extended to jails in other cities of the state.
IPS officer Dr KL Rao said the audio book recordings were made by prisoners in the barracks where Mahatma Gandhi was kept during the freedom struggle.

Here 20 male and 10 female prisoners have transcribed books related to religion, literature, history, technology etc. in Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit and English languages ​​into audio form. For this he is paid Rs 100 per hour.

Work on this Awaaz project was started in collaboration with Andhajan Mandal of Ahmedabad and every year more than 300 books are being prepared in this way. Along with this, this project will also be started in the central jails of Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara in the near future.
