The rising prices of food items have left the common man breathless. The food inflation rate in the country is around 8 percent and now its effect will be seen on the government as well. To save the common man from the blow of inflation, the government started selling flour, pulses and rice on subsidy. The government started selling these items under the brand name 'Bharat'; now the news is that their prices may increase soon.
The price may increase in the new month i.e. August
Sources say that the prices of flour and rice have increased. This is making the supply costly for the government and keeping this in mind, it has been decided to revise the prices of 'Bharat flour' and 'Bharat rice'. The government may implement the new revised prices of 'Bharat flour' and 'Bharat rice' from August 1. This means that 'Bharat flour' and 'Bharat rice' may become more expensive for the public from August 1 and are likely to be available in the market at new prices from then.
Even subsidized tomatoes are expensive
Apart from flour and rice, non-subsidized tomatoes have also become expensive. On Monday, the Food Department brought subsidized tomatoes at Rs 60 per kg in the Delhi-NCR market, which increased the prices of tomatoes compared to before.
Shares fell from the market
Earlier, the government used to sell 'Bharat Atta' and 'Bharat Chawal' only through central stores and mobile vans. Later it was made available at many other government and private grocery stores. Not only this, people were also getting the facility to buy subsidized flour and rice on e-commerce platforms like BlinkIt, BigBasket. At present, the stocks of 'Bharat Atta' and 'Bharat Chawal' are completely missing from the market.
The government is trying to control the prices
However, in the meantime, the government is also trying its best to control the prices. For this, the government has planned to stop the distribution of both subsidized grains. Now the government will not allow 'Bharat Atta' and 'Bharat Choka' to be sold in private shops, rather they can be sold only from government shops. Not only this, the government has decided to completely eliminate cash payment in wholesale sales.
