Lion in Amreli district: Encroachment by wild animals has been increasing for a long time in Khakhariya village of Wadia sub-division of Amreli district. Lions enter villages and fields at any time and kill animals. Due to this there is an atmosphere of fear among the farmers. Farmers cannot even go to water their fields at night. That’s why shepherds are unable to sleep at night worrying about the safety of their animals. Farmers and shepherds of this area have demanded the government to stop the lion from entering the village or take it to the forest.
Farmers demand to send wild animals to the forest
On Sunday (December 22), three lions attacked the farm of Babu Gorasia in Khakhariya village and killed three out of five cattle. Wild animals come to the fields near the farmer’s house and kill the cattle. Farmers allege that they are not getting adequate compensation from the government.
The farmers informed the forest department about the incident. The Forest Department team reached the spot and conducted post-mortem of the dead bodies of the animals. Now it remains to be seen how much and when the farmers will get compensation. It is noteworthy that the lion is roaming in the revenue areas and killing cattle in the farmers’ fields. Due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the farmers. Therefore, farmers have demanded to send wild animals to the forest.
