Indore: Special campaign for de-addiction will run in the district, special focus will be on youth

Indore, 12 April (HS). A special de-addiction campaign will be run in Indore district to free the citizens, especially the youth, from drug addiction. Under this campaign, special focus will be given to public awareness. Other special efforts will also be made under the campaign to provide freedom from drug addiction. This campaign will be jointly run by the district administration, police and voluntary organizations.

This information was given in the meeting held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Collector Ashish Singh. Additional Police Commissioner Amit Singh, District Panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain, Joint Director of Social Justice Department Suchita Beck Tirkey and officials of other related departments and officials of voluntary organizations/organizations related to drug de-addiction were present in the meeting.

In the meeting, Collector Ashish Singh said that with joint efforts this de-addiction campaign will be made result oriented. This battle for de-addiction is definitely a long one but success will definitely be achieved in it. He said that under the campaign, awareness activities will be organized continuously in schools and colleges. A permanent awareness center will also be built to make students aware. Apart from awareness, the campaign will also focus on monitoring, implementation and enforcement.

In the meeting, Additional Police Commissioner Amit Singh said that strict action will be taken against those selling drugs. For this the information system is being strengthened. Through the campaign, our effort will be to reduce the demand for drugs. Drug use should be discouraged. He said that under the campaign, collective efforts will be made for de-addiction. In the campaign, efforts will be made to identify drug addicts and connect them with the mainstream.

Information about legal provisions regarding drug de-addiction was given in the meeting. Information was given in the meeting that 11 institutions for de-addiction in Indore are being run by voluntary organizations. In the meeting, information was given regarding the departmental action plan prepared by the Social Justice Department for de-addiction. It was informed that the drug de-addiction counseling center will be operated effectively. Child de-addiction center will also be operated. De-addiction committees will be formed at school and college levels. Teachers will also be given training for public awareness. In the meeting, suggestions were also taken from the representatives of voluntary organizations to make the campaign effective.
