Indore: Employment fair got great success, 346 disabled people got jobs in reputed companies

Indore, 20 February (HS). On the initiative of Collector Ashish Singh, a huge employment fair was organized in the district on Tuesday, making innovative efforts to make the disabled people empowered and financially self-reliant. This fair has received good response and great success. 686 disabled people registered themselves in the fair. Out of these, 356 disabled people were selected for jobs in reputed private sector companies. Also, 155 disabled people who came to the fair expressed interest in setting up industry and business. By applying to them on the spot itself, after completing the formalities, the process of giving the loan will be taken soon. A portal has also been launched to resolve job related problems of the disabled.

The fair was inaugurated by MP Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Pushpamitra Bhargava, Collector Ashish Singh. On this occasion, District Panchayat President Reena Malviya, MLA Golu Shukla, District Panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain, Anil Bhandari, Joint Director Social Justice Suchita Beck Tirkey and other officers and public representatives were present.

Speaking at the fair, MP Lalwani said that this is a unique effort of the district administration. According to the resolutions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this is a big step towards economically strengthening the disabled people. This event is fulfilling the biggest need of the time.

Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said that continuous efforts are being made by the Central and State Government for the progress of the disabled people. There has been great success in this also. First the disabled were provided their basic rights and facilities and now they are being made empowered and economically self-reliant.

Collector Ashish Singh told about organizing the fair that the district administration is continuously making efforts to provide jobs to the disabled people and help them in self-employment. First we set up a help desk for the disabled in the collector's office. Now organized a disabled employment fair. Today itself, an employment portal named Sashakt has also been started for the disabled. Through this portal, coordination will be established between job providing companies and needy disabled people. Our effort is to connect all the registered disabled people with employment through the fair. He said that the efforts made today for the disabled will also be continuously followed up.

The guests visited the stalls of the fair. He also discussed with the disabled people. Disabled people also appreciated this effort made for them. The guests gave financial assistance ranging from Rs 20 thousand to Rs 50 thousand under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana to the selected disabled people who came to the fair. Sewing machines were given to five disabled women who came to the fair. Similarly, wheelchairs were also distributed. The disabled were given health check-up and free treatment. Special arrangements were also made for making/amending UID and Aadhar cards of the disabled. In this, UID of 161 disabled people and disability certificates of 40 disabled people were made.

More than 50 stalls were set up in the fair. Representatives of more than 75 private sector companies/institutions sat at these stalls and interviewed the disabled people who had come to the fair. Selected them as per their eligibility. In the fair, students of IPS, Bansal and other various colleges helped the disabled, registered them, took information about their interest and eligibility, and also took them to the stall. The role of students was commendable.
